Accepting glitches will also solve all other arguments about the rules of play. It is another form of entertainment and an extreme accomplishment. I myself thoroughly enjoy watching players speed run games and use glitches and you should to. This will bring in new and incredible records, furthering the progress of twin galaxies and joining all of the players from all other existing databases. I ask the community to at the least variate the scores so scores can be submitted for both categories. There are so many great and incredible speed runs done by players on places like Speeddemosarchive that go uncredited because they cannot have their name in the record database on Twin Galaxies simply because they are using glitches. in the new twin galaxies, we the people make the rules and that is exactly why Im presenting this speech. The point I want to get across is that nothing is a glitch. it is extremely difficult to beat the twins without triggering the double throw. I also find it frustrating that sometimes I will trigger a glitch by accident and I have to start my whole score attempt all over again. do the game designers know that it was possible to do that. he’s exploiting the jumping for maximum speed, this isn’t cheating, this is simply ingenuity and discovery. If a player decides to jump continuously across the level instead of running because it is faster, thats ok, he can do that. its about using whatever they can use in the level to achieve their goal. whatever way a player decides to speed run through a level is always going to exploit whatever they can in whatever means possible. the player is only exploiting this privilege, not breaking the rules. But the only reason that this trick exists in the game is because the game designer felt that the fighting would run more smoothly if they coded in easier hit detection while moving around the screen. This is achieved By toggling the d-pad forward and backward rapidly after executing a kick or a punch. On Streets Of Rage there is a way to kick and punch enemies multiple times with only using one kick. this was later exploited to slide through the wall at bowser’s castle at the end of the game. Why because the game designers put into the coding that if you let go of the up direction of the d-pad you instantly slide out. If you slide under a line of blocks, do you become stuck? No you do not. Yes it is true that these glitches are not intentionally created by the game designers but in order for us to experience smoother gameplay, I feel that they are necessary. How about we ask ourselves why Glitches are even in the games to begin with? there is no getting around them. Discoveries are important in the life of the human race. It is still an incredible achievement and discovery. I also want to ask of why the players aren’t credited for discovering these glitches in the first place. I will explain more about this trick later. The first problem I encountered with determining if a trick was a glitch was when i discovered a multiple hit detection in Streets Of Rage. game designers do not know what is possible until a player accomplishes it. The game designers did not know about the wall that could be passed through either, just like they didn’t know about jumping off the slide. Now lets look at going through wall glitches. The game designers probably wanted the player to slide down the ramp in a normal fashion. Now ask yourself did the game designers know about this trick? Probably not. Would you consider this to be a glitch? No you probably would not. If You are skilled, you can slide off the side of the track at the beginning and fall all the way down until you land at the end of the track. Like for instance on super mario 64 one of the castles secret stars you have to slide down a ramp in a certain amount of time to get the star. You might be thinking, “yes, the game designers did not intend for a player to pass through the wall like that, so it should not be accepted.” That may be true but lets look at some tricks that are clearly what you would not call glitches, just faster ways of doing things in the game. The game was made with it’s own rules unique to itself. But by who’s standards are we referring to? No one has a say on how a game can or should be played. Glitch is just a word gamers use to describe what appears to be something that is not supposed to be accomplished in a video game. From my experience in the world of gaming I have encountered tricks in games that have become very debatable in whether or not a trick should be defined as a “glitch”. What do most people define a “glitch” to be? Is it Going through what appears to be a wall perhaps? Who decides what is defined as a “glitch” and what is not? It is actually not as easy to determine as you might think.
